Your privacy is important to us, and we can assure both our existing and prospective customers that their data will only be held for operational or mutually-beneficial purposes.

What types of personal data do we collect, and why we collect it?

When you make an inquiry:

  • Personal details including your name, address and email address
  • Travel preferences, e.g. where you would like to get married

How we use this data:

  • To make contact and interact with you
  • To provide you with information about products or services that you have requested
  • To keep you up-to-date with news and offers that we know will interest you and are relevant

How we store this data:

  • On an encrypted, stand-alone computer only

Your right to ‘Opt Out’

At My Wedding Away we always strive only to send you information, news and offers if we feel it will be of interest to you. If you would like to opt out of our newsletters, please click the ‘Opt Out’ Link contained within them.

When you book with us:

  • Personal details including your name, address and email address
  • Date of birth
  • Passport information
  • Medical data, such as dietary, religious or disability requests
  • Payment/card details

How we use this data:

  • To make contact and interact with you
  • To be able to make bookings on your behalf
  • To be able to advise hotels and/or airlines of your personal needs
  • To check that your travel documents are in date and valid for travel
  • Occasionally to pass travel document information on to hotels

How we store this data:

  • Payment card details are never stored – anywhere. Card details are input directly into the Worldpay Virtual Terminal at the point of payment and no record of them is otherwise kept
  • On an encrypted, stand-alone computer
  • On Travelworks back office system. Travelworks servers are located in Canada and are protected by Incapsula
  • With the Travel Network Group, of which we are a member. It is through membership of this group that our customers are financially-protected

Personal data you provide about other individuals:

We use personal data about other individuals provided by you, such as your wedding guests and other people on your booking.

In providing other people’s personal data, please be sure that they agree to this and that you are allowed to provide it. You should also ensure that, where appropriate, they understand how their personal data may be used by us.

Data retention

We will only retain personal data for as long as is actually required, either from a product interest perspective or for operational requirements. Once this timeframe has elapsed, data will be securely deleted.

Links to other websites and social media

This notice and on our website overall you will find links to external companies and various social media platforms, and each has its own Privacy Policy. Please read them carefully, as we cannot be held responsible for any data that you may share directly.

Protecting your own sensitive data

Please ensure that you do not send important data to us (such as bank/payment info), using insecure methods, such as: via email, text message, social media or fax. You should always call us with such information as we cannot be held responsible for data breaches when using any other method.

Data Breaches – responsibility

In the very unlikely event that My Wedding Away was to experience any type of data breach, the data controller is responsible for informing all necessary parties and minimising the effect of the breach.
